Antoine Effroy is a French choreographic artist who grew up in Corsica and the South of France and has been living in Vienna since 2019. He is interested in forms of work in which different media are powerfully and meticulously combined via the sensitive scanning of their separative properties. His productions are characterised by unusual compositions: He has performed in the vaults of a railway viaduct in Altona, on the marble counter of the Mojo music club on the Reeperbahn, the grounds of the Werk Union steelworks in Dortmund or in the empty swimming pool of a villa in Mülheim an der Ruhr. His transdisciplinary works arise from the need to create careful and singular resonances with specific, historically conditioned places. His ongoing collaborative project Tchằ – Sol – Boden with performer David Guy Kono, theatre researcher Martina Gimplinger and musician Calvin Yugye, interrogates resources and togetherness in their own and shared geohistorical living spaces.
