Antoine Effroy (*1967) is a French choreographic artist based in Vienna since 2019. Raised in Corsica and Southern France, he is trained in ballet and contemporary dance in Toulon, Monaco, at the Conservatoire d’Avignon and at C.N.D.C. d’Angers (1988). Engagements followed in Paris, Berlin, Brussels and Hamburg (2000-15), where he produced own projects at Kampnagel as well as at the mythic music club Mojo Club under the label BASSEDANSE PROJECT. 2010-18 he took part at the collaborative artist-platform TREFFEN TOTAL in Hamburg and collaborated 2012-18 with theatre group Kainkollektiv in Bochum. He toured 2018-19 in the international production EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED AND WOULD HAPPEN by Heiner Goebbels.
2021 erhielt er das Forschungsstipendium für Tanz und Choreographie des BMKOES und ist Teil der Künstler-Plattform toZOMIA (tozomia.net).
His ongoing collaborative project TCHằ – SOL – BODEN with performer David Guy Kono, theatre researcher Martina Gimplinger and musician Calvin Yugye, interrogates resources and togetherness in their own and shared geohistorical living spaces (tchà’solboden)
